Bicentennial Charter Day 1946 Newsreel…‬From the Princeton University Archives: Paramount newsreel about the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the university being granted a charter. The newsreel covers the academic procession for the convocation, during which twenty-three people received an honorary degree, including Trygve Lie, Secretary General of the United Nations (1:42), Walter E. Edge, Governor of New Jersey (2:11), Niels Bohr , Salvador De Madariaga, and Jacques Maritain (2:21). The news reel continues with a Rutgers-Princeton football game (2:47), and a reenactment of the first Rutgers-Princeton game in 1869 (5:51).
