The mountain climber and BASE jumper known as "The Dark Wizard" was Dean Potter. He was a legendary, boundary-pushing American rock climber, highliner, and wingsuit flyer who became the subject of a major four-part HBO docuseries titled The Dark Wizard. Dean tragically died in a wingsuit flying accident in Yosemite on May 16, 2015, at the age of 43. His life and enduring legacy remain some of the most fascinating lore in the history of extreme sports.
After watching, listening and feeling Dean's story, his incredible passion to ascend the highest mountains, to base jump with his own strapped wings I composed "Dark Wizard" in his honor and glory... in my amazement of his fearless ascend and leaps to satisfy his heart and mind to explore and exceed his greatest dreams. God bless Dean, his memory, his eternal life ahead.
