The band, commonly referred to as "Cotton", draws its' influences from all sides of the musical spectrum. 100% Cotton was formed in the summer of 2005 by guitarists Chris Moran and Brandon Broderick. After writing several songs acoustically, the duo took to the streets playing numerous acoustic shows, writing songs and working to form a band./nEventually in the summer of 2007, 100% Cotton became a full band featuring members Chris Moran, Brandon Broderick, Eitan Levine, John Aponte and Mike Pechter. The band went through several lineups and drummers. Soon after the band's first show, drummer Mike Pechter left the band and was replaced in Fall of 2007 by Matt Lauritsen. The band played a few shows during that time, as well as recorded a 3 song demo in Skylab Studios. These sessions included early songs such as "Double E", "Splintered Dreams" and "Ain't Old Yet". Around November of 2007, Lauritsen left the band and Cotton did not get another drummer until April of 2008. Right before Resfest, Matt Peterson joined the band on drums and vocals for a three show stint in April 2008. However, once again the band was without a drummer until finally settling on Andrew Saunders in the the fall of 2008. Soon after Saunders joined the band, Leo Kalik, a longtime friend joined on lead guitar and vocals. John Aponte left the band due to personal reasons in the summer of 2008 and was replaced by longtime friend Bill Dripps, who played bass for Cotton from Spring 2008 to Summer 2009. John Aponte, founder and former bass player then returned to the band in August of 2009, directly before the band's first headlining show at The Stone Pony. The current 100% Cotton lineup has been active since October 2008 and includes members Brandon Broderick, Chris Moran, Andrew Saunders, Eitan Levine, Leo Kalik, John Aponte./nThe first official show 100% Cotton performed was in May of 2006 as an acoustic duo. The first full band 100% Cotton performance was at It's A Grind Cafe on September 6th, 2007. After some time playing shows and changing band members, the band finally got a solid group of members and began playing shows around the Rutgers University/New Brunswick area and has built some great rapport over the course of the last year. The band was nominated for "Best Jam Band" in the 2009 Asbury Park music awards and has opened for Gary Jules and Donovan Frankenreiter. The band is continually evolving, writing new songs, recording playing shows and expanding thanks to the fans. The band continues to play shows and continues to build a local and loyal fanbase.
