Beading jewelry and painting are my vocations. I paint every day
things and situations in a way to make them emotionally meaningful.
A way in which I effect this is to use bold colors when painting nature and nature's animals and birds, as
a replacement for the more inherent earth tones.
My favorite manner of painting is realistic with, as of late, a surrealistic subject
matter, such as in my Allegorical art. I paint a mixture of fine art subject matter, including iconic,
bird and animal, landscape art, modern still life,
and human figure artwork. Generally I paint in either oil or acrylic paint; occasionally in mixed media.
I create handmade jewelry because I love the beauty of the materials: the
beads, metal, glass,
and polymer clay. I love the colors of the different beads and
crystals, especially the Swarovski
Aurora Borealis crystals and multicolor seed
beeds. Working with beads, clay, and glass gives me a zen-like feeling, even if the design is challenging.
If the one who buys my wearable art perceives herself to be elegant by sporting it,
then I have achieved my purpose. Most of my jewelry is
one of a kind so that I am not creating the identical design twice.
Not only does that method keep me interested,
but I think it adds a distinct, sophisticated character to
the jewelry I make.
