Just Arrived: Over 1,500 Jazz LPs!
This collection has a great selection of the standard repertoire from the bop of the 60's into the more soulful sounds of the 70's./nThis collection is heavy on piano greats like Oscar Peterson, Ramsey Lewis, Billy Taylor, Ahmad Jamal, Les McCann and many more. There is also quite a bit of Bossa Nova, Organ-based titles by Jimmy McGriff, Brother Jack McDuff, etc., Guitar, especially Gabor Szabo, and Latin-based, Cal Tjader, etc./nHowever, before you serious collectors get too excited, please be aware that there are few original pressings of the bop titles. What we do have is a really nice assortment of later pressings, re-issues and later time-period titles. Most of these records were pressed from the mid 70's to the early 80's./nThere are many all-blue label Blue Notes, with a few Liberty blue/white and UA blue/white 70's pressings. Also many original orange/black Impulse recordings, dozens of CTI's, many Limelight's, Muse, Inner City, Verve and other eminent 70's labels.
There are also lots of "two-fers"; double LP repackages of classic records on Blue Note, Prestige, Milestone, Impulse, etc., and dozens of "OJC"s, reissues of classic bop titles from the 60's./nThis collection is delightfully clean. The gentleman who owned them took excellent care of them, so the covers and LPs are for the most part pristine. You folks who shop for jazz know just how rare that is!/nThere a couple of dozen priced in the $25 -$40 range, mostly the original Impulses, and the rest are priced cheap to move, $1.99-$9.99, with just a handful higher./nIf you are looking for a nice cross-section of inexpensive jazz records, it's a great time to come visit us!/nPlease note that we are a bricks-and-mortar, walk-in store only; sorry, we don't ship./nPrinceton Record Exchange
