www.rosemed.com For the first time in 65 years, six Torah scrolls from the small village of Susice, Czechoslovakia were reunited at the Jewish Center of Princeton, in commemoration of Yom HaShoa (Holocaust remembrance) on April 22. Rose was honored to be a part of this momentous occasion, as we are the only non-synagogue organization that guards one of these scrolls. The other five scrolls can be found at synagogues in New Jersey, California, Michigan and Florida. /nHundreds of people gathered at the Jewish Center of Princeton for ceremonies and educational gatherings to remember the past, honor the victims and survivors, and commit to a vibrant Jewish future.  Hana Gruna, a 92-year-old woman who grew up in Susice and was one of only eight of its approximately 100 prewar Jewish residents to survive, was there to bless the assembly. Hana visited Rose in 2008 when we had our Torah scroll restored and rededicated. /nThe Susice Scrolls are among the 1,564 sacred scrolls from the former Czechoslovakia that the Nazis plundered along with thousands of other Jewish ritual objects. Today, more than 1,500 of those Torahs have been rescued and are on permanent loan throughout the world.
