The most amazing 'false' mass hysteria American scare in American History 'took place' in the Princeton area. "Famous astronomer" Professor Richard Pierson of the Princeton Observatory was portrayed by Orson Welles in the Mercury Theatre on the Air's famous radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds. Of course, the famous radio presentation that scared the world and the ensuing movies, 'The War of the Worlds' took place about where Princeton Junction is.
