On September 11, 2001, I was working in downtown New York City, just blocks away from one of the most tragic and heartbreaking days in our nation’s history. I remember the pain of uncertainty. The disbelief. The silence that seemed to fall over the city as thousands of innocent lives were taken, families were forever changed, and a nation struggled to comprehend what had happened.
Pain filled our hearts. Confusion clouded our minds and skies. And grief soon became intertwined with a powerful demand for justice and retribution. Yet, more than two decades later, I believe we remember September 11 not only for the lives we lost, but for the courage, compassion, sacrifice and humanity that emerged from the darkness.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, first responders, volunteers, workers, families, and innocent people who never came home. We remember their lives. We honor their sacrifice. We carry their stories forward. And perhaps most importantly, we never forget that behind every name was a person who was loved, a family who was waiting, and a life that mattered.
September 11 is a day to remember—not to forget. To mourn—not to hate. To honor—not to divide. Never Forget 9/11. Never Forget the lives. Never Forget the courage. Never Forget the humanity.
