Each year, Pride Month invites us to celebrate our LGBTQ+ colleagues, patients, and neighbors. Held in June in remembrance of the Stonewall Riots, Pride serves as both a call to action on the work still to be done in combatting LGBTQ+ discrimination and a recognition of the strides we’ve already made. It’s an opportunity to express individuality, celebrate uniqueness, and come alongside one another in community.

For RWJBarnabas Health, Pride allows us to reflect on our mission as the state’s largest academic healthcare system - expanding access to equitable, culturally sensitive, and inclusive care.

Our organization has long prioritized ensuring that all New Jerseyans, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community, are seen, heard and valued within the RWJBH healthcare system and are treated with the dignity, respect, and equality they deserve. Health equity is key to overall well-being and, as care providers, we have a responsibility to ensure everyone can live the healthiest life possible, no matter their gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.
