We’ve just put out the largest folk collection we’ve ever purchased. It is a fascinating overview of all flavors of folk both traditional and contemporary. There are healthy doses of protest songs, drinking songs, love songs, tragic ballads, sea shanties, Appalachian songs, work songs, and more. The music is mainly European, especially UK and Irish, and North American, U.S. and Canadian. The records themselves are mostly English pressings as well as some domestic. Being that most are imports from the 70’s, and the music somewhat of a niche category, this collection easily has one of the highest percentages of titles we’ve never seen in the store. Among the many labels are Topic, Green Linnet, Trailer, Folkways, Rounder, and Philo. Some of the more sought-after artists include Peter Bellamy, Nic Jones, Ewan MacColl, Shirley Collins, and Peggy Seeger, and quite a few of these are autographed. The former owner had a clear passion for this music, and this collection is very well curated. The conditions of the vinyl and covers are, for the most part, excellent, with just a few of the older titles, mainly the 10”s having a scratch or two. We have priced these records very low as we have a huge backlog of product in the pipeline (always a good thing!), and we are hoping to move them out quickly. Most are $4.99 or less, with just a couple of hundred higher, and a few hundred at $1.00 apiece. As with all our collections, these records are sold first come, first served. Please do not call us to ask to put any on hold. For those not familiar with our store, sorry, we are a walk-in store only and do not ship. We hope you get a chance to visit us soon as we don’t expect this collection to last very long.
