Ten minutes from Princeton's historic downtown, an elegant gated estate awaits its next owner. Set amidst nearly 8 acres of rolling lawns dotted with specimen trees and masterfully planted flower beds to provide color for every season, are the restored main house (a portion dates to the early 1700's, built by Quaker contemporaries of William Penn), a carriage house and 2-bedroom cottage, trellises to support old grape vines anxd wisteria, a bountiful vegetable garden and pool, gazebo and tennis court. Inside, deep window sills, multiple fireplaces and expertly crafted millwork hint at the home's heritage. Former owners, among them Princeton University Dean Christian Gauss, mentor to F. Scott Fitzgerald, expanded on that gracious legacy. With an eye toward modern living, the current owners added a master bedroom suite with spa bath; two-story library with fireplace, floor-to-ceiling shelves with rolling ladder and spiral staircase; private office wing and cook's kitchen, all accented by teak and mahogany hand-carved panels and beams from Thailand.
