Mimi Omiecinski - Building Community with Pi and Chutzpah

Mimi Omiecinski moved to Princeton, New Jersey in June 2006, with absolutely no plans to start a small business. Before moving to Princeton, New Jersey, Mimi lived in Atlanta, Georgia working in senior marketing and sales positions including Kaiser Permanente, Aetna Healthcare System and United Healthcare Services. After the successful sale of Oral Health Services she took the unique opportunity to invest time to begin a family with her husband Steve, a global management executive in the medical device industry. The combination of a corporate vagabond lifestyle paired with a seven year career hiatus allowed for extensive travel as well as a longing for a stable sense of community.

Upon relocation to Princeton, she understood the potential for Princeton to grow within the global tourism market. She founded Princeton Tour Company with a mission far greater than commercializing the nation's most beloved Ivy League town. Her small business is designed to sustain the community which provides the framework for the vital sense of belonging she and her family value so much.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
