Mikheil Saakashvili at Princeton University
President Saakashvili: "Ideas can sometimes be stronger than tanks and money."
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili began the official part of his visit to the United States by delivering a public speech on Georgia`s reforms, Russia-Georgia relations and the upcoming NATO summit in Chicago at the Princeton University.
Saakashvili spoke about the results of the reform, which combatted corruption in the country and for which Georgia became exemplary for many countries. He said delegations and leaders from various countries arrive in Georgia to learn how Georgia succeeded in such a short period of time in various spheres, including police reform and corruption. Saakashvili said this success was the result of a mental revolution and the institutional changes, which the nation underwent not towards specific persons and authorities, but towards official structures.
`Georgia is a small country, but it has very important strategic location, because it is the gate between Asia, Caspian Region and Europe and it represents a huge transit route,` Saakashvili said.
Over 200 students of the Princeton University from various faculties were listening to Georgian president for 90 minutes. The meeting with the students was initiated by the University administration.
