The young man named Zack in this video represents Eden. He represents not only the youngest of Eden’s students… but also the most senior of our adults. Zack, and those he represents, is why we work at Eden. He is why our teachers do what they do… …and why our parents expect the best from us. Zack is living an extraordinary life. It is his and his alone. It is unique. It is challenging. It unfolds day by day. Like many, Zack came to Eden at 18 months ….for early intervention at our Wawa House. He enrolled at The Eden School at 3. In January 2016, Zach turned 21. In June 2016, he will graduate. You heard his mother Toni say in the video his future is uncertain. What 21 year old’s isn’t? But it’s different when you are an individual with autism. There is no denying it, Zack has marketable skills. Eden – as well as his mother and father – have always known Zack as: • motivated • determined • intelligent • and diligent   As with any student, there were times when he pushed his teachers’ buttons and tested the patience of the adults around him…but Zack has matured. Matured into a young man who is capable of many things…including employment. Leading a fulfilling, meaningful life is core to Eden’s mission. When parents come to us, their hearts are often broken. The vision they had for their child has been blurred. Eden’s job is to refocus it. Zack represents what we envision for all the individuals we serve, working hard to learn daily living skills that many of us take for granted. Zack’s story…what you saw in the video…remains to be written.
